Manhattan Chapter ASA
What is the American Scientific Affiliation (ASA)?
Founded in 1941, the ASA is a fellowship of Christians in the sciences and related disciplines, who seek to integrate the knowledge of the natural world gained through scientific investigation with biblical theology and Christian faith as expressed in the historical creeds. See link above for more information.
What does the local chapter do?
The local Manhattan chapter began officially in the Spring of 2010. It grew out of a gathering of interested Kansas State University faculty, students, and community members who wanted to discuss questions arising at the interface of current science and the Christian Faith. Those discussions have been wide-ranging, covering such topics as: biological evolution; human evolution and the image of God; neurobiology, psychology, and the nature of the soul; the Big Bang and multiverses; and natural resources and creation care.
We look forward to continue discussion on these and other topics. We also hope to host visiting speakers in the future to further stimulate our thoughts and conversation.
